TWO CRITICS FROM THE AUSTIN CHRONICLE SELECT ELLE KING AS SHOW TO CATCH AT SXSW

TWO CRITICS FROM THE AUSTIN CHRONICLE SELECT ELLE KING
AS SHOW TO CATCH AT SXSW!

“Living proof that if you use a Ouija board properly, you can summon the ghosts of Bowery balladettes and Robert Johnson while the angels run a capella and the devil duets on banjo to create Elle King’s shockingly sexy-sorrowful songsmithery. The Brooklyn-based siren has a sweetheart-with-a-knife voice that promises potentially dangerous intimacy on a grand, spooky scale.”- Marc Savlov, Austin Chronicle

“When Elle King moans out “Good To Be a Man” in her trembling…twang, sparse banjo licking into a dramatic and percussive flourish, it’s the sound of an immense raw talent finding her voice and conviction. Rootsy but punk, smart but playful, the Brooklyn singer’s unofficially released material has garnered acclaim online, heralding powerful vocals deployed with effective restraint and a sharp lyrical sense that distills an emotional essence.”
- Doug Freeman, Austin Chronicle

Caillat’s set will include new songs plus material from all three of her albums:  COCO; BREAKTHROUGH; and her most recent, ALL OF YOU, which features the hit tracks “I Do,” “Brighter Than the Sun,” and “Favorite Song,” a duet with Common.  Caillat and Common will perform the track for the first time ever on Ellen on April 6th.

Caillat’s first single “Bubbly,” (from her debut album COCO) caught a generation’s imagination and has become one of the best-selling digital tracks of all time.  Billboard named Caillat its Breakthrough Artist of the Year.  Her follow-up, BREAKTHROUGH broke at No. 1.  Later that year, Caillat was honored with four Grammy nominations and won two for her collaborations with Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift.   “Brighter Than the Sun,” the second hit from All OF YOU, has been featured in more than 21 films, TV shows and commercials, making it the most licensed new song this decade. It spawned the hit singles “In Love With A Girl,” which Billboard dubbed “a rocking homerun,” and the gold-certified “We Belong Together.” In 2009, Gavin released Free as a gift to his die-hard fans clamoring for recorded versions of Gavin’s live favorites.  For more information visit www.gavindegraw.com.

“CLIMAX” TO PREMIERE SIMULTANEOUSLY IN THE US, CANADA AND UK
WITH A 12 HOUR EXCLUSIVE BEGINNING AT 5AM ET/10 AM UK TIME

(New York - March 8, 2012) The video for Usher’s brand new single “Climax” will be premiering simultaneously in the US, UK and Canada tomorrow morning, Friday March 9th at 5am ET/10 AM UK time on VEVO.com as part of VEVO’s platform update.

Directed by Sam Pilling, this dramatic, highly-suspenseful and attention-gripping video was shot in Atlanta, and visually captures the energy and extreme intensity of Usher’s game-changing and “Sexxxxxxy” (Rolling Stone) lead single “Climax” from his forthcoming album due out later this spring.

The “Climax” premiere coincides with VEVO’s unveiling of a major platform update, revamping their VEVO .COM and VEVO apps for iPhone, Android and Facebook, offering viewers a more personal, social and innovative viewing experience.

"Climax," a genre defying track, is receiving exceptional critical response: Pitchfork declares"Climax" "an exercise in the power of restraint, as Usher sings the woes of a romance stuck in limbo, alternating whispery falsettos and earnestly pained howls….Diplo shows uncharacteristic subtlety behind Usher's sentiment, with a beat that seems to hang suspended in midair.” The Los Angeles Times writes "Climax" "is rooted in pure soul, with Diplo employing sexy synths behind a dripping downbeat. Draw the curtains, light a candle and take a listen." Perez Hilton exclaims “LOVE IT!! This song is a trance-y, smooth HIT!!  USA Today describes “Climax” as “Usher’s pulsing new single showcasing his silky-strong tenor” and Entertainment Weekly highlightsUsher’s “steaming-hot falsetto.”
